Elephant in the Room (a.k.a. Ele)
Who is 'Ele'?
Ele, pronounced 'əlí', is our in house 90 watt CO2 laser cutter we purpose built to cut latex sheeting. We designed and constructed this invaluable piece of equipment completely from scratch. The precision, size, and accuracy of Ele allows for everything from entire catsuits to the most intricate designs to be cut with ease, making it a critical component in our production process.
Building Ele
Ele was designed using Fusion 360. The primary goal was to have a large cutting area while maintaining as compact a footprint as possible. We also wanted it to stand on its own, rather than sit on a tabletop.
Ele took a total of eight months to build from conception to cutting the first latex sheet. The electrical assembly took the bulk of this time.
Ele has a 90 watt vacuum sealed CO2 laser tube. This is far more than needed to cut latex, but does allow cutting multiple layers of latex in one pass with the right focusing lens.
Ele runs almost daily now to bring your creations to life. Ele also cuts new acrylic for her housing and random stuff throughout the shop.
